What a Way to End, and Begin

So that was the 2012 IZOD Indycar season, and what a way to finish with the title only being decided on the last lap of a 500 mile race with Ryan Hunter-Reay taking the championship by only 3 points from three time runner up Will Power.

That is the on track action done with for the year, but plenty still to be involved with on the IndyCarUK site, as well as the Facebook page and Twitter account.  The Facebook page has around 30 likes in a week so get liking! The twitter account has around 125 followers in just under a week so keep spreading the word, but this website has had the best part of 1000 views in only a couple days and is where you can get involved with your own blog posts on anything Indycar related from drivers, teams, tracks to rules, future or past. If you haven't written one before maybe need some help get in touch and we can see what we can do to help out.

I have a couple of interviews lined up with drivers and Indycar crew which will be posted over the next couple weeks so keep your eyes open for those on here.

Just to end with a message of congratulations to Ryan Hunter-Reay and would like to point you towards his charity work, and organisation called 'Racing for Cancer' which holds money raising events throughout the year which are great fun to attend (I went to The Yellow Party in Indy back in May and left with a pair of Rubens Barrichello race worn boots from his Ferrari days), more details are available here.

What To Do Next?

As the season draws to a close tonight, we have a long wait until the engines start up again in St Pete next year, so what to fill the time with?

A series called Indycar 36 has been running all season long and it follows a driver throughout the race weekend right up to the chequered flag. A programme easily missed in the UK as it is not shown anywhere on our screens.

So from finding out why the Long Beach GP means so much to Ryan Hunter-Reay, to hearing JR Hildebrand talk about the 800th turn of his 2011 Indy 500 début race, to Helio Castroneves quest for a 4th 500 victory, the show offers an insight into the drivers life both on and off the track.

And what is even better about the show? Not only are all the episodes available on YouTube, but they are accessible OUTSIDE the USA! You can find all, bar the last episode which is due to air in a couple weeks, HERE

Episode Guide is available HERE

First of all thank you to everyone who has been in contact, retweeted, and passed around the website on twitter. I have already had some enquiries about posting blogs on the website which is great. If you would like to have a blog on here please get in touch on the contact form, I will then provide an email address to send it in to. I will post a maximum of one blog a day if i receive multiple entries so to give it a fair exposure for you. Any questions please get in touch!

Thank you for checking this site out, what was first up jokingly kicked around on twitter between some UK Indycar fans somehow led to this!

The basic premise for this site is to provide a place for UK Indycar fans to talk about the series, post blogs, interviews, and overall help raise awareness of the series in the UK. First up was the Facebook page, which is going along, but also a twitter profile, which after only a few days is close to 100 followers, including drivers from the series, both active, and looking to be active!

I am looking forward to seeing how this goes from here, British motorsport fans are the best in the world.

So finally a big thank you to those who have helped with the initial ideas, the logo, contributions, as well as those who are already spreading the word on facebook and twitter!

Enjoy the race this Sunday morning, green flag at 1:50am... Sky Sports 1, coverage starts at 1am with Keith Huewen, Tomas Sheckter and Andy Brown, see you there!

Adrian
