#Follow4Indy

Ok, here's the idea, may work, may not, but its always worth a shot!

Many of you who are on twitter do the #FF or #FollowFriday where you list twitter users who you think are worth a follow, this is an easy way to introduce new users to others particularly if you share an common interest, and for us this is Indycar.

So here is the idea, we use a specific hashtag to identify ourselves, one that if you search or click on leads you to other tweets mentioning people worth following, you do not have to list enough too fill up you 140 letters as users can be easily missed, try mixing in drivers with fans, bloggers, media, team members to spread awareness amongst those taking part, just mention four or five to start.

My suggestion, which has had a bit of interest tonight, is #Follow4Indy. Thoughts behind it, using a number helps it jump out more than letter characters, and secondly, it saves two characters, all very important in Twitterland! Finally we pick a day where we promote this, importantly away from the other days used, so how about every Wednesday?

This use of a hashtag to find new followers / users has been used to great success amongst F1 fans using #F1Follow which takes place on a Thursday and fills both my Indycar and personal twitter feeds all evening. NASCAR fans too use #NASCARFOLLOWBACK with their own good results. So maybe it is something we as stakeholders in the success of Indycar growing should consider.

Any thoughts about this way of spreading the word, mention them below or tweet me @IndycarUK!
