Ever year Trackside holds a blogger night, the opportunity for anyone with an Indycar based blog or website the chance to be part of the show, discussing a topic or promoting their website. I am please to say that I will be part of the line up for this years Blogger Night talking briefly about the website, who we are, what we do and our forthcoming plans.
The line up reads below. Tiffany Davies – Open Wheels Zachary Houghton – IndyCarAdvocate.com Adrian Rickard – indycaruk.weebly.com George Phillips – Oilpressure.com Raymond Hando – For The Love of Indy Doug Patterson – OpenPaddock.net Eric Hall – AnotherIndyCarblog.wordpress.com Brian Carroccio – AutoRacing1.com & thechromehorn.net Mark Wilkinson – NewTrackRecord.com Christopher Morben – MakeItGoFaster.wordpress.com David Zehr – Groundeffects.blogspot.com Patrick Stephan – Tracksideonline.com Tony Tellez - Openwheels Bill Zahren – Pressdog.com The show is broadcast from 1am until 3am Thursday night / Friday morning. You can listen live here via the website - Click 'Listen Live'. Or if that is a touch too late, there is a podcast on the website, which is also available via iTunes Hope you can tune in at some point, and if you are new to Indycar, it is worth checking out each week to keep up with news, views and interviews from the series. Adrian (Photo: 1070thefan.com) Ok, the show seems to be heading back towards its regular spot on the schedule now. If you want to keep up with Indycar news, views, opinions as well as guests I can highly recommend that you give Trackside a listen. Normally broadcast on a Tuesday or Thursday night, around midnight (GMT). The show is hosted by Kevin Lee, of NBC Sports Network Pit Reporter and Curt Cavin of the Indianapolis Star Newspaper. The show involves a lot of audience interaction, mostly via email and twitter, so it is a great way to have any questions you have answered. Details are listed below. If midnight is a little too late you can always catch up the show is available as a podcast on 1070thefan.com or via a subscription on iTunes. Website: http://www.1070thefan.com/trackside/index.aspx Podcast: http://www.1070thefan.com/trackside/podcast.aspx iTunes: Search 'Trackside' Twitter: @KevinLee23 / @curtcavin So here is the deal, get fit in time for the Indy 500, and even though this has been set up in America, you can join in too. One of the best things when improving your fitness is having targets to work to and this one is the 26th May. This 'competition' (I put this very loosely) is something based along the lines of the TV show 'The Biggest Loser'.
To get involved, visit the link below, join the Facebook group, you will need to choose a team to join - 1 Team Apex 2 Team Turbo 3 Team Crasher Get the screen name of your coach, this will be either Monica Hilton, Crash Gladys or Ross Bynum, you will need the screen name for when you register with Team Beach Body. Next up, visit http://www.teambeachbody.com/ and register your free account, there is nothing actually being sent out so just put down Canada for the country you live in. When it comes to coach, select 'screen name' and enter the coach's name. Fill out the usual bits and pieces, any questions you can direct them to your coach! The 'competition' will start on the 24th February, more details in the flyer below. (I am in Team Turbo, I think you should join us!) You may or may not be aware that there is a social get together at McAlisters Deli on 96th/N Meridian St. This is for all car fans to get together and talk, well, racing and cars!
After a few messages back and forth with @CarsnCoffeeIndy they set up a 'UStream' channel, so no matter where you are located in the world you can join in with the conversation, still with a cuppa in hand. You can find the channel here - http://www.ustream.tv/channel/indycarsandcoffee It takes place every Saturday morning 10:00-12:00 ET, which is 15:00-17:00 GMT UK time. Be sure to follow them on Twitter and on Facebook. Like to contribute to our latest blog?
Here is the plan - Pick a moment, or a couple, which stood out for you this year in the INDYCAR series. Can be on or off track. Maybe a bit on action, overtaking, stories, meeting people. I will be looking for a picture, video (can be personal or YouTube) as well as a few words to go with it (happy for you to use pictures from the internet just provide a link so I can credit them). I will be looking to post this in the new year so plenty of time to get some thoughts together. Any questions or if you would like to submit something please use the Contact Us page, Facebook or Twitter. Thanks Adrian A while ago I asked for people to contribute to a blog I was working on which was a review by new fans of IINDYCAR for this past season. I had a few responses which was great but over the past six weeks since I posted that the number of followers on twitter and facebook has increased (very!) significantly so thought I would put a request out again before I pull all the correspondence together and post them to gain a better overall view.
So the basic remit - I am looking for a fan who is primarily UK based (although not exclusive, happy for anywhere in the world!), 2012 was your first season of watching or following INDYCAR (or with more interest than in previous years) and you would be happy to answer a short questionnaire via Email. So if you can help out please get in touch via twitter (@IndyCarUK) or by using the Contact Us form on this website. Thank you for your support so far, this website / project has gone well beyond what I could imagine and promise to repay by providing a better community for us fans here in the UK in the future with more fan blogs, features, interviews, travel guides and competitions! Big congratulations to Ben Haddleton who correctly named the Driver, Car, Track and Year of the picture competition. Robin Patton was the runner up and will also receive a small prize. Many entries were received, but only a couple of them had all four answers correct. The year was catching a few people out! Driver - Danica Patrick Car - Rahal Letterman Racing / Panoz (accepted both answers) Track - Watkins Glen International / WGI Year - 2006 An Indycar prize pack will be on its way to you very shortly. This is just the first of hopefully many! A massive thank you to my friends in America who have helped in putting together prizes for competitions. Of course as always, any ideas you have, maybe you would like to contribute please get in touch via the contact us page or on twitter. Look out for another competition next month. Adrian Firstly a huge thank you to everyone who contributed to the Dan Wheldon photo tribute blog, to those who passed it on facebook and twitter, and those who read it, 300 views in the first 12 hours!
A busy week ahead of blogs on the website. Including hearing from a fan who became a friend of Dan Wheldon, some touching memories and photos to share. We find out about Dario Franchitti's recent visit to Scotland bringing one of his cars from CART, including the chance for a fan who meet his hero. And finally, the auction winner who won the chance to visit the Sky Sports studio for the finale from Fontana. Always on the look for contributors so if you would like to contribute please get in touch via the contacts page. Lastly, don't forget to check out the picture competition on our Facebook page (CLICK HERE), entries close on 20th October and is open to UK entries only - Indycar prize pack to the winner, Good luck! If my request for a Dan Wheldon picture brought you here and you would like to contribute to it please can you tweet me a picture, along with a small back story to the picture. Or get in touch via the contacts page on this site and i can provide an email adress to get in touch with.
I think, and those who met Dan know how much he cared for the fans and it would be great to have the opportunity to share those with others. A big thank you to those who have been in touch already, some great pictures and stories to go with them. Thank you again, this one means a lot to me. Adrian |
